Modeling of Early Events in Atherosclerosis


This project aims to improve our understanding or the early events leading to plaque formation and inflammation in endothelial tissues of the vascular system in humans. Special emphasis is placed on the roles of bone morphogenic protein 4 (BMP4), various NADPH oxidases, and a number of reactive oxygen species. The modeling efforts address metabolic, as well as gene regulatory and signaling events.
